Olivia du Renard
They/Them

Olivia du Renard is a young half-Elezen, half Hyur, soft-faced but adventurous. Though they may not look the part -- a chubby body, a freckled face adorned with glasses, and a general air of innocence -- they are certainly not one to be trifled with! Whispered rumors are sometimes heard mumbled in the back alleys and shady taverns of Ishgard, where folks are a little more loose-lipped about salacious gossip. Though the nobility may not like to accept it, Olivia is one of the fiercest defenders of Ishgard's walls.

Their House (though some snooty-nosed nobles would be more likely to call it a mercenary organization, probably spitting the word out as they say it) is that of Lapin-Renard, an organization focused not on politicking, but on camaraderie and unity. All manner of outcasts can be found in their House, giving them a second chance to defend who they love. Before the end of the war against the Dravanians, they would often butt heads with other nobles, Temple knights, and supporters of King Thordan and the ecclesiastical hierarchy he stood for. Never to the point of being accused of heresy, mind you -- even those who aren't diplomats by title may still know how to maneuver through the world of politics with relative grace! Now, though, that Ishgard is a Republic, they have become a vocal supporter of the common folk, and they have personally marched out to the aid of the Eorzean Alliance, proving that their beliefs are not hollow by backing them with steel. When they are not in their home of Ishgard, they are often seen wandering about the major cities of Eorzea, helping those in need even when they are far from home.

An excerpt from "A Treatise on the Houses of Ishgard - Vol 7":
Although Ishgard is mainly controlled by four major houses -- Durendaire, Fortemps, Haillenarte, and Dzemael -- there are various smaller houses, sub-factions, bloodlines, and clans, all who work to carve out their own little corner of history. All can find honor and glory through combat, and with Garleans and Primal Cultists abound, none will be found wanting for a lack of work! One of the more curious Houses is that of Lapin-Renard. They are new and of low status, made up primarily of mercenaries, sellswords, exiles, outcasts, bastard children, and the otherwise unwanted. But unlike, say, a common gang of bandits (which one would expect them to be, given the ignoble origins of their members), they fight as a cohesive unit, with surprising camaraderie and discipline. Perhaps, being with nowhere else to go save for death, they have found a strong kinship in one another. They fight with the ferocity of voidspawn, but love and laugh and celebrate with the same zeal and gusto as a Lominsan pirate on their fourth mug of ale. Of all the Houses I have written about, there are none more stout-hearted, reliable, and protective of one another as the members of Lapin-Renard.The "leader" of House Lapin-Renard (as it were, since their house has little in the way of hierarchy), is a half-Hyur, half-Elezen adventurer by the name of Olivia du Renard. Their heraldry is quite bold indeed: Quarterly purpure and cendree; In first quarter a rabbit sejant erect regardant sable; In second quarter a fox sejant sable; In third quarter a symbol mars and venus combined celestial-azure; In fourth quarter a moon increscent argent. I have mused over their imagery -- perhaps they mean to symbolize cleverness, quickness, and trickery, and their eclectic origins of their members, many of whom have found their luck and fate "waning", like the final phases of the moon. All my musing is but conjecture, as any attempt to question their members about its meaning has provided nothing fruitful beyond jovial laughter and the occasional crude joke. Remind me again to never fall for the trap of "the famed warrior Bophadese" ever again...
