Olivia du Renard is a young half-Elezen, half Hyur, soft-faced but adventurous. Though they may not look the part -- a chubby body, a freckled face adorned with glasses, and a general air of innocence -- they are certainly not one to be trifled with! Olivia is a fairly seasoned adventurer, self-taught in the combat arts and holding some knowledge in magic as well. They are soft-spoken, speaking in a husky but quiet voice with a clear Ishgardian accent. Often seen with a pipe in their hand, Olivia is followed by an earthy scent -- not of tobacco, but of the various healing herbs they inhale to handle the aches and pains of being an adventurer. And, of course, what would an adventurer be without their equipment? Olivia is typically seen clad in a moderate amount of armor: padding, leather, and some chain, a good mix of defense and mobility. To balance out the lack of heavy plate, they also carry a large heater shield. As for the attack, their favored weapon is the warhammer, brutal but effective.

House Lapin-Renard is a humble, hard-working union of families. When Olivia was born to House Renard, they were raised by calloused hands and firm-but-fair parents. Stoneworking is an exacting job, where one wrong chisel-chip can ruin months of work. And so it has always been that the children of House Renard have been raised with no more expectations than a sturdy home, filling meals, and honest work. The families of Lapin-Renard were well-off but frugal, preferring to live a more humble life than give in to avarice. Greed and arrogance is dangerous, and there is no lost honor in living a simple life.Though it may sound like a hard and boring upbringing, this doesn't mean that there was no joy. Olivia's parents were still loving and honest people, and although firm with rules, they were still fair and were not ones to turn to violence. They still enjoyed days of playing among friends, of going to festivals, and of learning to read. This last one, especially, was what changed the course of their life. Their parents were glad to buy Olivia books from traveling merchants, so that they could read about far-off lands. Quickly enamored by tales of knights and fairies and princesses, they decided they wished to be a hero when they grew up. Their parents, of course, laughed it off as childish fancy -- every kid wishes to go on grand adventures, of course! But as the years went by, they did not let up. Yes, they still trained for the family business, learning how to hew, chisel, and shape stone. And they certainly found the work fulfilling, and had no ill-will towards their family. But that call of adventure was far too strong. When they had free time, if they weren't devouring books, they were finding ways to train. Even if it was just a stick against a tree, they would practice. Sometimes it would be against other kids, playing 'pretend' as they'd fight mock-battles, as children are wont to do. When they were old enough, they'd practice against training dummies, often to the amusement of grizzled adventurers and temple knights who'd watch the awkward teen stumbling around with a wooden sword. Sometimes they were even lucky enough to get some tips and tricks from those who saw some potential in them. Then, the Calamity. Olivia was in one of House Lapin's mines, helping inspect a new ore vein they were considering tapping into, when the world was torn apart by Dalamud's fall. The mine collapsed and Olivia barely made it out, though they suffered severe injuries. During the long weeks spent in the hospital, they continued to read, but also began to take an interest in magic. They had always had some talent, but never pursued it fully, and with nothing else to do while laid up in bed, they did what they could to practice spellcraft. Offensive magics were out of the question, of course, as practicing those in a crowded hospital would be... looked down upon, to put it mildly. But they did find an affinity for defensive and healing magic. Though perhaps not at the level of a great Paladin or a wisened White Mage, Olivia can at least stitch some minor wounds and provide aegis against lighter attacks.Once they were well enough to walk again, they scrounged up what money they had saved up over the years and bought themself some weapons and armor. Though their family was, of course, sad to see them go, they were honored to know that Olivia was setting out to help others. The Calamity had upended the lives of many, and there was a great need for anyone willing to help others. Though no longer a mason, Olivia remains as stalwart as a solid stone brick, and they've traded in the hammer of a stoneworker with the hammer of a true warrior.Though the roads have been long and the dangers many, Olivia has not wavered from their path. They are a "hedge knight" of sorts -- barely more than a sellsword, but holding themself with enough regal bearing to not be seen as merely a common mercenary. The ideals of honor, humility, compassion, and chivalry still ring strong in their heart.

Olivia was born into a minor House, that of Lapin-Renard. It is comprised of two families that have lived in Ishgard for generations, and are well-regarded as honest, humble, and hard-working. House Lapin was known for its miners who could find the deepest veins and most lucrative quarries, granting Ishgard much in stone, metal, silver, and gems. House Renard was that of masons and stoneworkers, who could make anything from a finely-hewn brick for a wall to a gorgeous statue for a temple. The two families relied on one another so heavily that they eventually intertwined. Theirs was a union both of labor and of marriage, strengthening their bonds and solidifying their status as one of Ishgard's premiere stone-cutting families. With the two families now having control over the mining, refinement, and production of earthly-gained goods, they obtained a strange sort of status: they were not blue-blooded nobles, but still held their fair share of power.Still, the House of Lapin-Renard had no aspirations of glory and control. That they gained the status they did was merely circumstantial in their eyes. This lack of ambition was, thankfully, enough to make the bluebloods not see them as upstarts requiring retribution, though the "proper" nobles of Ishgard will still talk down to them. Lapin-Renard remains comfortable in hewing their ores and shaping their stone. Those raised in the Lapin-Renard families often put a hard work ethic and a simple, comfortable lifestyle above anything else. Days wasted on frivolous pursuits only last a lifetime; a solid foundation of stone can last forever.Their coat of arms is as follows:Party per pale Bleu de Ceil and Tenny, in dexter chief a fox rampant Argent, in sinister chief a hare rampant sinister Argent, in base a cross hammer and chisel Argent.

  • Olivia was wandered up and down Eorzea, so it's not unlikely for them to stumble across someone even in the middle of nowhere.

  • Being of the adventurous sort, they're not opposed to helping others on their own quests. Perhaps you've taken a mark from the Hunt board, found a Leve for some quick coin, or discovered an old ruin that looks in need of exploring. Olivia will be glad to assist.

  • Olivia suffers from chronic pain, and has to medicate with various herbs, poultices, and potions -- most notably their pipe, which they stuff with healing plants to inhale some relief. They're always looking for healers and herbalists to help replenish their supplies.

  • Their accent and demeanor clearly marks them as Ishgardian. Any from Ishgard itself might even recognize their House. Whether or not that's a good thing or a bad thing depends on who they're talking to!

  • Olivia is a collector of rare books... though not books of immense knowledge and power. No, they're a voracious reader of fairy tales, adventurous stories of knights, and trashy romance novels. They'll go to many lengths to find the next volume of a series.

Hello! Welcome to my Carrd!List of all of my characters can be found here.I have autism and ADHD, so do be patient with me if we talk. I might miss cues or fail to pick up on reading between the lines. And I do apologize if I take a long time between responses in RP -- I sometimes will write up entire paragraphs only to go "Ah, no, my character wouldn't say that" and rewrite the whole dang thing. Trust me, I do my absolute best to provide good responses both in casual conversation and in RP.I am in Mountain Time (MST) though my hours can be funky.I am not up-to-date on every little bit of lore in the game. I may get things wrong. Though, my character is already an anomaly in terms of lore, so a little bit of bending the rules isn't something I'll bat an eye at. Still, if I get some stupidly basic part of the game's lore wrong, lemme know.As of the time of writing this, I have finished Dawntrail but not the post-patches. Please avoid spoilers if possible.I prefer medium/high fantasy RP. Some Allagan/Garlean-level tech can be okay, and Machinist/Gunbreaker characters are cool in my book, but if it veers into Alexandrian/Solution 9 or Bunnies-on-the-Moon levels of technology, I'm simply not interested. I'm here to fight monsters in old ruins, not holograms in the Arcadion!I don't mind short posts or multi-paragraph, nor will I judge if you prefer one of the other. I also don't care if action is done via dice rolls or simply vibes-based. If you've a preference, I'll match it. I'm just here to have fun and clack OCs together like dolls. As for power level, I adjust based on who I'm RPing with. Though, I try not to go beyond "being able to take on a Primal with help from others" levels of strength. If your character is capable of one-shotting monsters without any effort and doesn't bat an eye at world-ending calamities, I'm afraid I'm not the sort for you. I also am not a fan of god-modding -- I get that few folks like their characters getting hurt, but if you walk away from a scrap without a single scratch, you're getting the side-eye!I do not mind dark/mature/adult themes in roleplay, but it should be discussed beforehand. Coming right out the bat with 'propositions' is a great way to get yourself blocked. And yes, I have Light/Snow/PS for viewing one another 'in the flesh', but like with D/M/ERP, if your first message to me is "share code?" then I'm not gonna respond, sorry. And please keep in mind: just because I'm sharing this doesn't mean it gives the go-ahead to immediately start discussing sexual stuff with me. I'm sex-positive, but I'm also, y'know, a real life person behind the screen. Try not to be weird. As the saying goes, "buy me a dang dinner first!" Compliments and lightly flirtatious comments about my character are fine though, and I find them quite flattering.
